Get back to your work.

Find the step that needs attention. Most connection issues can be resolved from Desktop or your MCP client.

01 / TROUBLESHOOTING

Install & sign in

Where do I get the Desktop app?

Open the Desktop page and choose your operating system. Copy the Shell installation command for automatic package selection and checksum verification, or download an app package. The current Desktop is available as an opt-in Next preview; macOS is ad-hoc signed and not notarized, and Windows is unsigned.

How do I update Desktop?

Install the current Desktop release manually once if you use 3.0.1 or earlier. After that, open Desktop → Updates to check, download and verify a new release. Finish tasks and stop the connection before choosing Install & restart. Windows, macOS and Linux AppImage support in-app updates; DEB/RPM use package-manager or manual updates. Updater signatures verify the download and are separate from OS publisher signing.

My computer sign-in did not finish

Start Login with Khai-Hub again in Desktop and complete the browser sign-in using the same account. Return to Desktop to select a profile. You do not need to enter a code manually.

Connection & profiles

My profile is offline

Open Desktop on the computer you want to use. Select the profile and start its tunnel. Check that the computer has internet access and stays awake while your AI uses it.

My AI cannot authorize the connection

Start the profile in Desktop first, then connect its exact MCP URL from your AI client. Approve the browser authorization request only if you started it. Use the same Khai-Hub account that owns the profile.

Can I switch computers?

Yes. Choose the same profile on another registered computer and start it there. One profile has one active computer at a time; its MCP address stays the same during normal use.

The website status looks out of date

Open your workspace and use Refresh after making a change in Desktop. Account pages update when opened or when you perform an action. They do not continuously poll for status.

Tools & permissions

Why does my AI see fewer than 95 tools?

Your local Agent advertises tools according to your individual tool switches, selected access level, operating system and available native capabilities. Normal is read-oriented, Elevated adds changes, and Full Access allows broader operations. OS permissions still apply.

How do I turn off an individual tool?

Open Desktop → Tools and use the switch beside its name. Every switch starts on and is saved locally. Off tools disappear from the MCP catalog and new calls to them are blocked immediately. Existing work can finish. The tool stays visible in Desktop so you can enable it again. Refresh your AI client’s tool list if it keeps showing an old list.

Why is screen capture or native UI unavailable?

Grant the required permissions on the computer itself. macOS uses Accessibility and Screen Recording permissions. Windows and Linux capabilities depend on the desktop session and installed system components. Use health with the exact tool name for diagnostics.

A tool reports TOOL_RENAMED after upgrading

Desktop 3.0 replaces grouped tools with focused names. Reconnect the MCP client to refresh tools/list, then choose a replacement from the error guidance or catalog. No profile URL reset is required.

Can my AI start another coding agent?

Only when Desktop has Full Access and you have enabled the local AI CLI option. It is off by default. Disabling it blocks new starts and resumes; changing connection settings may restart the tunnel and stop running session tasks.
